Properties:
White or off-white crystal or crystalline powder. Easily soluble in methyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol or diethyl ether, slightly soluble in hot water and almost insoluble in water. The melting point (General Rule 0612) is 96-99℃.
Application:
Propylparaben has been widely used as antimicrobial preservatives in cosmetics, foods and pharmaceutical preparations. It can be used alone or cooperatively with other parabens or antibacterial agents. It is also one of the most common preservative for cosmetics. It is valid within a very wide pH range and has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. It has the best effect on yeast and mould.
